Hibiscus & Rose Agua Fresca
This hibiscus + rose agua fresca is the most refreshing drink after a long day in the garden!
With its gorgeous color and beautifully floral flavor, it's the perfect summer drink to keep stocked in the fridge.
Inspired by Flamingo Estate's recipe, I love making this with rose petals from my garden and whatever fresh herbs I have growing. Try adding citrusy herbs like lemon thyme, fresh mint, lemongrass, or basil for an added herbaceous element.
It makes the perfect unsweetened tea, or you can sweeten it and use it as an addition to cocktails! The color is stunning, and the flavor is so bright and floral.
Hibiscus & Rose Agua Fresca
Ingredients
1/4 cup dried hibiscus
1/4 to 1/2 cup rose petals
3 tbsp lemon verbena or lemon balm
3 lemon slices
Sugar, to taste (optional)
Additional herbs like lemon thyme, basil, lemongrass, mint, etc. (optional)
Instructions
Bring 8 cups of water to a boil.
Add hibiscus, rose, lemon verbena, and lemon slices. Turn off the heat and cover. Steep for 10 minutes.
If you’d like to add sugar, add it while the liquid is still warm so it fully dissolves. I chose to leave it unsweetened but you can sweeten it to your liking.
Chill in the fridge until fully cold, then serve over ice with a slice of lemon!
